Dr. Kelsey Morgan, anti-trafficking researcher at the Blum Center and CEO of EverFree, spoke to local news outlets in advance of the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Large events such as these are, unfortunately, spaces where vulnerable folks in the community can become victimized by traffickers to take advantage of the influx of money and tourists. Dr. Morgan described who would be the most vulnerable in these situations and why big events become covers for human trafficking – a desire for entertainment which typically means commercial sexual exploitation – and how situations of trafficking tend to unfold.
