Blum Center affiliate and climate extremes modeler Amir AghaKouchak (UCI, Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering) was recently cited in a USA Today article about a new study on drivers of wildfire. Dr. AghaKouchak explains that the modeling in his new research article offers evidence that the amount of burned area from California’s summer wildfires is primarily influenced by human-caused (anthropogenic) climate changes rather than natural variability.
