Blum Center affiliated faculty member Brett Sanders is in the news discussing how sediment bypasses could help to address erosion at our local beaches.

In a recent Spectrum News 1 article by Jo Kwon, Sanders explains that sediment buildup in Orange County’s flood channels is an unintended consequence of flood prevention measures. Currently the county engages in a yearly cleanup process that clears out that sediment, returning a portion of it to local beaches.
