The International Institute for Sustainable Development published a recent article by Alec Crawford, Anne Hammill, and Blum Center faculty director Richard Matthew titled “Building Peace and Climate Resilience: Aligning peacebuilding and climate adaptation in fragile states.”

The article discusses how sometimes immediate peacebuilding efforts may be given priority over longer-term planning for climate change adaptation. The authors discuss how the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process has been used to incorporate climate adaptation priorities into development plans. The country-led process helps to align peacebuilding and adaptation priorities in order to build a sustainable future and promote lasting peace.
