Leandra Jackson is a 3rd year student studying Public Health, with a minor in statistics. She is focused on attending medical school in conjunction with doctoral training in public health. On campus she is involved with epidemiological research at the UCI Medical School and HIV/AIDS in MSM populations in the Public Health Program. She has been an active volunteer at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo for the past six years and sees the effect of poverty in local communities. Her goal is to work as a physician-scientist that understands and values the widespread and international aspects of health, particularly as they related to women and children. She believes that it is important to incorporate the need for healthcare and education access into efforts to propagate poverty alleviation on both the local and global scales.
